The 2nd annual 
New England Work-in-Progress Screenplay Competition


The winners of the 2nd annual screenplay competition were announced at the awards ceremony at the Captain Kidd Restaurant & Bar on Tuesday night.  Scott Anderson of Harvard Square Script Writers and JP Ouellette of Yankee Classic Pictures were on hand to officiate and present the certificates and Final Draft software packages.

The Winners of the Feature Screenplay category:


Hat Trick
screenplay by Robert Gately

Three older men fight impotency, bladder problems, death and 100 security guards at the Super Bowl as they follow a friend's fantasy.  While taking the journey, they show through their passion for living that growing old can be the most exciting time of our lives. 


East Paris
screenplay by Margaret Broucek

A Boston FBI agent with a bad track record at work and love is sent to rural Maine to solve the mystery of a missing girl.  When her search for evidence and a new relationship lead nowhere, she must find a way to break the patterns in her life.   (Ms. Broucek is also a filmmaker with a film in competition entitled Beauty Parlor Census.)


Imperfectly
screenplay by Barbara M. Wilson Arboleda


A brain-injured young woman struggles to regain her independence and self-confidence in spite of her brother's well-intentioned over-protection.  She finds both inner strength and love as she journeys beyond the sheltered world to which she has become accustomed.

An Honorable Mention was given to A Viscious Circle, screenplay by Spencer Beglarian.  (Spencer is also showing a film in the festival competition entitled Just Don't Do It.)
