The 13th Annual Film Festival Volunteer Program
Office Manager (2) - staffs office before, during and after Festival.  Coordinates all office needs, answer phone, sell tickets, receive and send packages.

Print Traffic (2) - responsible for ensuring prints arrive in a timely manner.  Coordinates all shipping with filmmaker and festival.  Must work well under pressure and be extremely organized.  Before, during and after Festival work to ensure prints get where they need to go.  Coordinates with venue managers. 

Volunteer Coordinator (2) - Candidates should be comfortable multitasking, filling out schedules, fitting talents with festival opportunities, calling references and in actively recruiting volunteers.  Office skills a plus, sense of humor mandatory.  Availability - week before and week of Festival. 

Theater Managers (8) - Managers will be assigned a Festival Venue for the duration of the festival and will work with the Equipment Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator and Festival Director to create volunteer/screening schedules, flow crowds, and potentially introduce festival films.  Should be able to fill in a needed position. Crisis management skills helpful, excellent social skills and sense  of humor a plus.  Availability during festival only. 

Theater Staff (10) - Theater Staff work as ushers, gofers, ticket takers, merchandise sales, general points of reference and sometimes as liaisons for filmmakers new to both the venue and the area.  Should posses excellent social skills, be comfortable making change, selling wares.  Availability during Festival only. 

Workshop Coordinator (2) - This position requires a solid background in organizing equipment, serving as liaison between workshop instructor, venue and students.  Knowledge of Apple systems and software a big plus.  Availability before and during Festival. 

Transportation Coordinator (2) - Transportation coordinator make sure that talent, filmmakers, staff, VIP's and others get to where they're going.  A solid scheduling ability, sense of rhythm, drivers license and MiniVan are all a plus.  Hospitality experience desirable.  Availability before and during Festival. 

Runners (4) - Runners go where needed when needed.  Requirements, a fleet foot, car or bicycle, virtue of patience are all excellent qualities for this position.  Being called upon to go
for things by various festival staffers should not be an issue.  Availability during Festival only. 

Housing (2) - Housing Coordinators should be talented negotiators of lodging resources and assets.  The ability to perceive whom would room well with whom is of great benefit.  Responsible for enforcing festival rules regarding offered housing of great import.  Should be willing to oversee multiple locations.  Hospitality experience desirable.  Availability before and during Festival. 

Merchandise (2) - Merchandise coordinators should be able to oversee the sales of festival merchandise in all locations.  Make sure stocks are adequate, change is on hand and that special requests are filled.  Coordinates with runners to make sure that all locations are up to snuff.  Securing merchandise and cash at the end of shifts mandatory.  Logging totals on festival systems at the end of the day and familiarity with Microsoft Excel necessary.  Retail experience desirable.  Availability before and during Festival. 

Special Events Coordinator (1) - Works with the Festival Directors to plan, schedule, and execute events for festival sponsors, volunteers, patrons and filmmakers.  Should be able to network with talent and solicit non-profit donations and discounts.  Experience in event production a plus.  Availability before and during Festival. 

Floaters (4) - This is a great job for those new to the festival scene.   A great way to get a good overview of how a festival works.  Applications should be extremely flexible in both time and talent.  Ability to work long hours and on short notice important.  Terrific sense of humor, valid drivers license and own transportation  necessary.  Availability during Festival only. 

Projectionist (4) - Persons should be familiar with multiple tape formats (Beta SP, MiniDV, DVCPro, DVCam, DigiBeta), should be comfortable with cueing and switching films in series.  Should also posses a knowledge of projection, audio and lighting equipment.  Strong organizational skills, time management, and punctuality all necessary.  Ability to work well under pressure a plus.   Availability during Festival only.

Year-Round Opportunities

The Woods Hole Film Festival, Inc. is offering qualified students of Cape Cod Community College year-round internship opportunities that will provide experience in Administration, Non-profit Management, Event Production, Hospitality Marketing and Operations, Public Relations, Customer Service, Fundraising, Marketing, Organizational Development and Community Outreach. We seek candidates who will “complement” our mission as a non-profit arts organization serving the Cape Cod community through innovation, commitment and creativity.

Intern Positions are now being filled for the January-May 2004 semester:

  3. Sponsorship and Donor Relations Intern

  6. Festival Screening Committee Intern
The Woods Hole Film Festival, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation established to:

Organize the annual 8 day film festival (held late July/early August)

  • Form relationships and strategic alliances with other film festivals and organizations to showcase independent film
  • Emphasize the work of first-time and New England filmmakers
  • Showcase the work of independent filmmakers who have a relationship to Cape Cod or whose films are relevant to or enhance the quality of life on Cape Cod
  • To develop and foster a creative independent film community within the Festival and on Cape Cod
Interns will be partnered with professional festival staff, to ensure the maximum learning experience for the candidate. Tasks and responsibilities will be shaped according to both the festival’s needs and the intern’s credit requirements.

The Woods Hole Film Festival, Inc. is completely programmed, managed and operated by volunteers. Our staff and Board bring extensive professional experience from not only the film industry, but also from business management, public relations, law, finance, public administration and other fields. We regret that we cannot offer a monetary stipend to interns. Instead, we can assure candidates that they will have the opportunity to participate meaningfully
in the growth of a cultural organization renowned on Cape Cod, regionally and nationally.
