Whether you prefer a cool lemonade, a refreshing cola, a cold brew, or an afternoon cocktail, join us for lively conversation about last night's films and the ones coming up.

Saturday, July 30: Project Green Screen
PROJECT GREEN SCREEN™, film screenings powered by renewable energy, designed and operated by Tom Wineman of Clean Energy Design, while bringing back some of the flavor of the disappearing American drive-in theater. Walk or ride your bicycle to this special outdoor screening of selections from the Woods Hole Film Festival. We will be screening "Top of the World," a documentary by Bill Kern, who will be on hand.

Stroll down the street and look for a small ship sticking out of the second floor of an old granite building-- This is Candle House home of the Public Information Office of the Marine Biological Laboratories and the surface for a large-scale screening opportunity for National Boston's TEN SECOND FILM FESTIVAL and other shorts including trailers from some of our upcoming films for the week.

Saturday July 30: Opening Night Party
Join us to celebrate the opening of the 14th Festival, our largest and most exciting yet, We have 99 films screening during the week and filmmakers coming from all over the world. And what better place to mark the occasion than the Captain Kidd? Our friends Bill Murray and Maggie Crowley are long-time supporters of the Festival and this Cape Cod classic establishment has become a central magnet of the Woods Hole Film Festival experience. From the opening night party to the afternoon gatherings, festival goers will spend a lot of time here during the week. Two years ago, they were the first locale for the hugely successful “Dinner & a Movie” screening series. For the opening night party there will be more than enough good cheer!

Sunday July 30: Filmmaker's Brunch
A private meet-and-greet brunch limited to the attending filmmakers held at at a waterfront home of a Festival supporter. Filmmakers, send your significant other, family, and friends off to the beach or the shops and join in this perfect chance to renew old acquaintances, to make new friends, and share experiences to prepare for the week-long festival. Last year a number of filmmakers forgot to bring their bathing suits. The water in Vineyard Sound was wonderfully warm. By invitation only.

Sunday, July 31: Party at the Nimrod
Let's see, Sunday night during the summer. So it's just a good excuse to have a good time. And to enjoy the great atmosphere of The Nimrod. Be sure to thank Jim and Gwen for their support of the festival. They also sponsored the Starry Night Awards Gala in March this year.

Monday, Aug 1: Workshop with Shandor Garrison
The Elements of Filmmaking for ages 13 & up through the Cape Cod Conservatory
In this intensive workshop, students will study each aspect of filmmaking from script to screen. Working in groups, students will learn how to write a basic screenplay, preproduction, assembling a crew and cast, how to communicate your vision to a group, how to storyboard a script, how to set up and direct a scene, and how to edit a film. No experience required.
Limited to 12 students, 1 week intensive: Monday August 1st to Friday August 5th, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, $250

Reggae/Ska Rock from The Popgun Seven. The Popgun Seven is a horn-fueled roots pop reggae band made up of ska band ex-patriots, escaped soul convicts and assorted rock refugees, who washed up on this island called Rock You Senseless. They’ve been rehearsing to do just that--to you.

Bruno Coppola, Director (Rules of Love) and Jamie Harris, Actor (Speed for Thespians) and guests will screen their short films and discuss where short films fit in, what do they mean for a filmmaker, what do you do with one, and the distribution channels for them.

Saturday, Aug 6: Emerson Winners
Once again we are pleased to present the winners of the Latent Image Awards, the annual competition of short films by Emerson College students. Latent Image is a student-published film journal at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. Since 1989, they have devoted its pages to the medium of film, with criticism, reviews, interviews, and more. They are proud to have published student submissions from universities around the world. The Latent Image organization meets weekly, and all meetings are open to Emerson College undergraduates.
The selection this year includes films which have been accepted into competition in the Woods Hole Film Festival. Students ranging from undergraduate to graduate will be on hand to discuss their films and film education. The presentation is curated by Tyler Ruggeri.
