Past projects of the Woods Hole Film Festival Documentary Workshop -
In January 2005, the Festival was commissioned to make a feature length historical documentary to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI).  WHOI, located in Woods Hole, Massachusetts is one of the world's leading scientific institutions. (www.whoi.edu).  This workshop provided a unique opportunity for those interested in documentary filmmaking to participate in a hands-on educational experience that resulted in a finished film.

The workshop functioned as a professional production.  Working with existing historical written, visual and audio provided by WHOI, the participants developed the script, narration, graphics, editing, sound and music for the documentary. Under the guidance of instructors from the Woods Hole Film Festival, the participants assembled the elements of the project: historical research by reviewing existing footage, interviews, stills, artwork, documents and text.

Location:  Woods Hole, Massachusetts

Educational credit arranged upon request

Workshop Instructor:  Jean-Paul Ouellette - Yankee Classic Pictures
Executive Producer:  Judith Laster
